Recently, Guangdong Province has been hit by a round of novel coronavirus pneumonia. Local outbreaks have occurred in Guangzhou, Fengshun of Meizhou, Chaoyang and Chaonan of Shantou, Puning of Jieyang, Maoming Maonan and Xinyi, resulting in community transmission. The situation is grim and complex. The Shenzhen Lions Club of China received help from Fengshun and learned that the people in Fengshun were short of medical supplies and food rations. Peng Daojian, the president of the Shenzhen Lions Club, and Tan Fei, the second vice president of the club, rushed to rescue them and called on all service teams and lions to help Fengshun.
On November 2, 2022, the Shenzhen Lions Club of China donated a batch of rice, cooking oil, noodles, masks, protective clothing, gloves and other epidemic prevention and living supplies worth more than 110,000 yuan to Fengshun Meizhou. The activity was organized by the Shenzhen Lions Club of China, initiated by the Bagualing Service Team, and co-organized by the High-tech, Mission Hills, Spring, OCT and other service teams. After two days of calling, many Lions responded positively, promoting the Lion spirit of “We serve”, extending a helping hand, offering selfless love, and supporting the epidemic prevention and control work in Fengshun with practical actions. More than 90,000 yuan was raised in just 48 hours.
On the same day, the launching ceremony of the China Shenzhen Lions Club’s donation of supplies to Fengshun in Meizhou was held at Aihua Building, No. 2041, Bixin Road, Longgang District. Tan Fei, Second Vice President of Lions Club of Shenzhen, Gao Jie, Captain of Bagua Ling Service Team, Guan Nanxuan, Captain of Mangrove Bay Service Team, Guo Yan, Captain of Shande Service Team, Gu Huizhen, Captain of Fuyong Service Team, Fang Yichao, Captain of Shajing Service Team Zhang Yuhai, captain of High-tech Service Team Gu Lihua, captain of OCT Service Team LAN Xiang, captain of Yantian Service Team Yi Lihua, Captain of Huayue Service Team Deng Guoquan, captain of Charity Collection Service Team Cheng Yan, captain of Leshan Service Team Xie Hubiao, captain of Yishan Service Team Zhou Haiping, Lecturing Team Luo Junping and Zhang Kun, Zheng Weiping and Wu Weili, former captains of the Bagualing Service team, participated in the activity and loaded the donated materials overnight.
Vehicles loaded with donations were sent overnight to Fengshun in Meizhou. Fengshun County Emergency Management Bureau received supplies and promised to distribute daily necessities donated by the Lions Club of Shenzhen, China to the people in the epidemic control area, and medical supplies to the frontline staff to help the people of Fengshun overcome the difficulties together. Leaders of the Fengshun County Emergency Management Bureau and relevant personnel of the epidemic prevention headquarters counted the supplies together and expressed deep gratitude to the Shenzhen Lions Club for their emergency support and great love.
It is reported that Fengshun of Meizhou was infected with the Omicronon variant strain BA.5.2 this time, and its transmission showed three characteristics, which could easily cause the rapid growth of infected people in a short time. Since the outbreak of the “October 23” epidemic in Fengshun, Meizhou has coordinated the resources of the whole city, given full play to the role of county, town and village cadres and volunteers, and ensured that nucleic acid testing of all types of people should be “screened to the fullest extent” and “quick detection and quick removal”. In order to better help the people in the controlled area, the authorities of Fengshun County actively appealed to charity units and people from all walks of life and asked for help from the Lions Club of Shenzhen, China. Upon receiving the news, the Lions Club of Shenzhen, China organized fundraising as soon as possible, and purchased materials according to the local needs accurately and in accordance with the law.
The epidemic is merciless, there is love in the world. In the battle against the epidemic, the charity donation of the Shenzhen Lions Club of China has become a beautiful landscape, and the trickle of charity supplies gathers great strength. Behind each batch of charity supplies is full of the determination and confidence of the lions to overcome the difficulties and fight against the epidemic together. Tan Fei, the second vice president of the Shenzhen Lions Club of China, said in the loading scene that the mountains and rivers are connected and each other helps each other. We hope that these supplies can help people successfully control the epidemic and resume normal production and life.
