Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation: You and I walk together on the fight against COVID-19

This article is from: Study Times

There is such a group of people, selfless dedication of them, with action to write the world love; There are also such a group of people, with strong and optimistic to convey the love of life, self-reliance of them, in this city, contribute their own strength… “They” and “they” interpret the speed, strength and temperature of Shenzhen in the community, in the streets and in the details. With their little efforts, they add a strong touch to the spirit of openness and inclusiveness of the city.   It is a big test for a city to fulfill the duty of “caring” and let the warmth reach people’s hearts. As a special group, the disabled deserve more care.

On March 21, Mr. Zheng, who is blind, reported that the operation of his medical massage institution in Nanshan District of Shenzhen City had been greatly affected. Due to his visual impairment, it was inconvenient for him and his employees to get nucleic acid testing. After receiving the call, the Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation promptly arranged for the district Disabled Persons’ Federation to learn about the situation, and visited with the Shenzhen Association for the Blind with the sympathy goods. Finally, the staff accompanied Mr. Zheng and his employees to do nucleic acid testing.

There are many things like this. Shenzhen DPF at all levels has made efforts to turn the “troubles” and “heart-wrenches” of the disabled into “satisfactory things”.

During the epidemic period, Shenzhen DPF at all levels investigated all certified disabled persons in the city through telephone, wechat and other means to understand their current situation and needs, guide them to strengthen their awareness of prevention and control, and strictly observe the prevention and control requirements. It has tracked the distribution of welfare subsidies for the disabled, opened a 24-hour psychological counseling line, and provided services such as medicine delivery and on-site nucleic acid for those in need. To mobilize social resources to provide the disabled with masks, disinfectant, food and oil and other epidemic prevention and living materials to ensure their basic livelihood; The disabled people in the “three areas” of the sealed control area, the control area and the prevention area will be given priority care and follow-up, and the unattended disabled people will be provided with one-to-one services. Since the beginning of this year, it has provided barrier-free taxi booking services for the disabled, the elderly, pregnant women, the sick and injured and other groups in need. A total of 1,782 barrier-free taxi reservations have been accepted and 1,404 people have been served. The number of persons with disabilities has exceeded 100,000, and the number of persons with certificates has reached zero. At the same time, the bottom line is that no outbreaks will occur in special places. We have made solid efforts to prevent and control the epidemic in designated rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities, street comprehensive (vocational) rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes for persons with disabilities. We have implemented the “one place, one policy” and “one institution, one plan”, strictly implemented the epidemic prevention and control guidelines for service institutions for persons with disabilities, and improved the prevention and control mechanism, so as to ensure that the bottom line of epidemic prevention remains unwavering.

This kind of action is the essence of the Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation in performing the functions of “representative, service and management”, and demonstrates the humanistic care that reaches to the people’s hearts. From quick response to active solution, it is a strong reflection of the continuous enhancement of the “three characteristics” (political, advanced and mass) and the continuous improvement of modern and refined governance ability of Shenzhen DPF.

Bring together social forces with action to deduce the great love of the world

During the epidemic, in addition to the busy work of Shenzhen DPF at all levels, various social forces have also shown their love for disabled people with their own actions.

Shenzhen Lions Club plays an active role as a social organization and fulforms its responsibility. During the epidemic period, it hired professional teachers to carry out various training courses for children with disabilities, including psychological lectures, legal publicity courses, social ability training courses, music inspired training courses, parent-child flower art training, etc. Donated 117,000 yuan for rehabilitation training to Pingdi Tiantian Children’s Rehabilitation Center for special children from poor families; Donated 25,500 yuan to poor children; We donated 3.3 million yuan worth of epidemic prevention and control materials to subdistrict comprehensive vocational rehabilitation centers and welfare homes for the disabled.

The Longhua Charity Association and the Longhua Social Organization for the Disabled launched the “Longhua Family Assistance Program for the Disabled”, providing seven assistance services, including angel escort, peace and love, to 100 families of the disabled, and distributing 110,000 masks, a batch of clothes, wheelchairs, rice, oil and alcohol to the disabled, benefiting more than 2,300 disabled people.

The disabled volunteers from Shenzhen Yuyan Disability Care Development Center delivered dumplings, steamed buns, fruit boxes, fried noodles, mung bean porridge and other materials to the “rebel” in the city, such as the Courier boy. And that’s just one example of how the Swift Center is delivering love during this outbreak. Due to physical disabilities and other reasons, the disabled are vulnerable to psychological impact. The Swifts Center combines professional advantages with humanistic feelings and invites experts from different fields to talk about the topics that the disabled and their families are generally concerned about, from mental health to physical rehabilitation, from epidemic prevention knowledge to family education, to strengthen the confidence of the disabled in the “three areas” to overcome the epidemic.

“Winning the battle against the epidemic cannot be achieved without the persistence and fighting of frontline workers from all walks of life. They are ‘soldiers’ on the front line, and we are willing to be a strong guarantee for the rear.” Said Zhang Yingying, founder of the Swift Center.

Contribute to the fight on the front lines you and I

Not only do disabled people need help from others, they can also do their part to help others. People with disabilities are often busy on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19.

Zhang Wenhan, who lost his right arm in 2005, came to Kapok Bay in 2010 and became a member of the Disabled Persons’ Federation. For more than 10 years, he has been helping the disabled in the community from street to street, providing various services and going where he is needed. He has become a close friend of the residents. After the “slow button” was pressed in Shenzhen, the public transport system was shut down. Zhang Wenhan cycled more than 17 kilometers on a shared bicycle every day, protecting the health and safety of the residents of Kapian Bay community.

Ten years ago, Li Liang, a deaf man from Hunan Province, came to Shenzhen with a dream to join KFC’s Angel restaurant. Through his own efforts, he has been promoted to be the manager of KFC’s Angel Restaurant. He has also been selected as a torchbearer for the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games. Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Shenzhen, Li Liang has participated in the volunteer work in the fight against the epidemic for four times, working for more than eight hours each time, becoming the most beautiful scene in the fight against the epidemic. “Actually, I can do anything on the spot. It’s just like communicating with customers at KFC. There’s no difficulty,” Li said in sign language. If I have a particularly complicated problem, other volunteers can help me.” After solving the problem, the residents would thank him in the sign language they had learned from him, which made Li Liang feel warm in his heart.

Yu Yiyi, head of the supervisory board of the Shenzhen Deaf Association and a full-time member of the Community Association for the Disabled, said that a bird with broken wings can fly. An accident caused her to lose most of her hearing when she was 7 months old. However, she began to learn drawing by herself at the age of 5, sign language at 18, and photography by herself at 25. After working hard, she successfully completed her junior college and undergraduate studies in Shenzhen Television and Radio University. In the face of the epidemic situation this year, I have been busy on the front line of the fight against the epidemic. I worked until 9 p.m. every day, scanning nucleic acid codes, helping the elderly operate mobile phones, and taking care of the disabled, pregnant women and the sick. “I am a party member who needs us on the front lines of the community.” “Said Yu Yiyi. She sent warmth to the residents with enthusiasm and patience, demonstrating the responsibility and strength of Communist Party members.

This is the third time in a row that Pan Ling, a disabled worker with weak vision, has participated in the sinking community’s fight against COVID-19. In the face of the sudden epidemic in Shenzhen, she decisively gave up her plan to go back to her hometown to take care of her seriously ill father. Instead, she responded to the call of the organization and took an active part in the fight against the epidemic. At the nucleic acid testing site, she was busy back and forth, patiently helping residents, especially the elderly, to complete the application of nucleic acid code and maintain the order of nucleic acid testing. Her patient, warm voice is on the telephone hotline. During the epidemic prevention and control work of more than ten hours every day, she always stuck to her post and made silent dedication even though she felt ill. During that time, the building she lived in was sealed for three days due to the epidemic, and she returned to the battle line immediately after the lifting.

The concerted efforts of disabled volunteers, social organizations and official departments to fight against the epidemic is a vivid illustration of the integration of disabled people into the city and their two-way travel. It reflects that Shenzhen DPF at all levels and the majority of disabled people are working together to overcome difficulties, protect the city home and create a better and happier life under the leadership of the Shenzhen Municipal Government.
