On May 19, 2022, a series of charity activities titled “Promoting Employment of Persons with Disabilities and protecting their rights and interests” — Shenzhen 2022 National Day of Helping the Disabled was held in Shenzhen Talent Park, Nanshan District. Organized by the Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation, the event aims to popularize the concept of “care, trust, acceptance, respect and equality”, create a civilized society atmosphere of understanding, respect, care and help for the disabled, and welcome the victory of the 20th CPC National Congress with concrete actions.
Dong Xiu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shenzhen Municipal Disabled Persons’ Federation, Cao Tingguo, member of the Party Committee of Shenzhen Municipal Disabled Persons’ Federation and first-class researcher, Tian Tao, Director of the Training College of Shenzhen Open University, Hu Min, Director of the School of Education for Persons with Disabilities of Shenzhen Open University, Lin Jing, Director of Shenzhen Nanshan District Disabled Persons Federation, Huang Fake, Director of the Office of Shenzhen Disabled Persons Federation, Dong Fei, Director of the Rehabilitation and Employment Department of Shenzhen Disabled Persons, Bo Xiangyang, President of Shenzhen Disabled Persons Association, Liao Yanhui, President of Shenzhen Association for the Mentally Disabled and Their Relatives and Friends, Nie Xiangdong, the second vice president of Shenzhen Lions Club (2021-2022), Lai Zhuoni, the secretary general of Shenzhen Lions Club, Wang Xiangyun, the leader of Bagualing Service Team, Xie Jieyu, the director of Shenzhen Citizens Love Comprehensive Service Center for the Disabled, representatives of the district (New District) of Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation, friends of the disabled, representatives of enterprises, representatives of the news media and other hundreds of people participated in the activity.
Dong Xiu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director General of Shenzhen Disabled Persons Federation visited the booth of Shenzhen Lions Club Fair, and had an in-depth exchange with Nie Xiangdong, second vice president of Shenzhen Lions Club, and Lai Zhuonyi, secretary general of Shenzhen Lions Club, and expressed their deep concern and greetings. President Dong Xiu pointed out that the Shenzhen Lions Club is enthusiastic about public welfare and actively fulfills its social responsibility. It responded to the call immediately and vigorously supported the series of charity activities on the National Day of Helping the Disabled. She also affirmed the high sense of responsibility and mission of the Shenzhen Lions Club in protecting the rights and interests of the disabled.
The signing ceremony was launched under the theme of job training, employment and Entrepreneurship Assistance for the disabled. Dong Xiu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director General of Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation, delivered a speech. She mentioned that the core theme of this activity is “promoting the employment of the disabled and protecting the rights and interests of the disabled”. She truly takes practical actions to help disabled people find employment and support them to integrate into society to the greatest extent. It is of landmark significance to try our best to let people with disabilities and other needs feel the warmth of Shenzhen, a city of love, charity and volunteers. She thanked all sectors of society for their active participation and selfless dedication in helping the disabled.
The activity entered the donation link. Among them, the Bagualing Service team of Shenzhen Lions Club donated masks worth 5,000 yuan.
The leader of the Municipal Disabled Persons’ Federation awarded the plaque to the caring enterprise.
Cao Tingguo, a member of the Party Group of Shenzhen Disabled Persons’ Federation and a researcher, delivered a speech. He pointed out that the development of the cause of the disabled cannot be separated from the full support of all sectors of society. He hoped that the whole society could work together to create a happy life for the disabled and set an example for the cause of the disabled in Shenzhen.
The charity fair opened, and 22 booths were set up by the district (New district) Disabled Persons’ Federations, disabled persons‘ special associations, charity enterprises and units at the fair site, mainly covering the exhibition and sale of works of disabled persons, photography exhibition of disabled persons, public welfare achievements exhibition of charity enterprises, policies, laws and regulations and disability prevention publicity, Douyin live broadcast and delivery. Handicrafts such as straw paintings, cloisonne paintings and fish skin paintings were all made by the disabled in the district.
This series of charity and public welfare activities on the National Day of Helping the Disabled in Shenzhen was a complete success. It provided a good employment development platform for friends with disabilities, improved the public’s understanding and support for friends with disabilities, and let us see the strong and optimistic spirit of friends with disabilities. At the same time, it also showed the love and strength of all sectors of society for public welfare undertakings to help the disabled.
